55-year-old Mary Lou Retton, Olympic two-time silver and bronze medalist in gymnastics, has been in an ICU fighting a rare form of pneumonia. Retton’s family has received $415,000 in donations to help with their absence of medical insurance. McKenna Kelley, Lou Retton’s daughter, stated she is beginning to respond to treatments and is making steady progress. The Hawkeyes’ women’s basketball team set an attendance record Sunday, Oct. 15 with 55,646 people. This number broke a previous record of 29,619 people during the 2002 NCAA championships in San Antonio between UConn and Oklahoma. To put the cherry on top, the Hawkeyes clinched the victory against DePaul University 94–72.For the first time since 2016, the Washington Huskies’ football team made its way to the Top 5 of the AP Top 25 list after narrowly defeating Oregon 36–33 Saturday, Oct. 14. Currently, Washington’s 13-game winning streak is the second-longest in college football history, trailing behind Georgia’s 24-game streak. The Huskies’ rise to number 5 marks their best ranking in 6 years, last accomplished when they made the College Football Playoff.
