New research shows the most popular museum in America is now Graceland, the Memphis, Tennessee home of Elvis Presley.Joel Weinshanker, the managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, recently said Graceland would remain a destination as long as we go to museums like the Smithsonian because Elvis is the one artist a whole culture keeps trying to emulate in style, music and culture.The other key? Weinshanker noted Elvis’s body of work (700 songs and 31 films) is big enough to continue to curate and build upon. Graceland generates more than 40,500 searches a month (a 45 percent jump over the last 12 months), a revival in interest influenced by the June 2022 release of a new Elvis film. Researchers at Airport Parking Reservations (and parking people know a lot about big crowds) used real people's street data, reviewing online reviews and search data from the top 15 museums in every U.S. state to see which museums are most frequently searched with added data from Google Reviews and Linkfluence. They noted Graceland has attracted more than 1.2 million online reviews more than any museum, with 19.5 of conversations being positive. More than 600,000 vistors tour the estate annually, making it the second most visited home after the White House.Traditionally, art and history museums in power centers like Washington, D.C., and New York City, have dominated past rankings, places like Washington’s National Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Art, and National Museum of American History or New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art.
