I started my journey at Zalando less than 2 years ago discussing this particular topic of transformation withFinally, some downtime this week — I have some observations about my transition to in-house product design. If you follow anyone at Zalando Product Design or Highsnobiety you’ve undoubtedly seen posts about our recent launch of Stories on Zalando — I hope I can add something to the topic that hasn’t been said, I’ve purposefully held off posting about it as I tried to collect my thoughts about the bigger picture. I spent many years on the agency side both pitching and leading digital transformation, but I have not yet fully lived it until now. Yes, I’ve led multi-year projects to completely redesign, re-platform, and re-launch major digital media environments (like NBC News with Moritz Gimbel), but because I was on the agency side I missed both the before (putting all the pieces in motion that create the conditions for transformation) and the long-road after the new system is put in place (measuring and steering towards a new set of KPIs).
